Alta Training provides high quality, real-world training to small businesses across the UK. It currently offers the comprehensive 'Mastering QuickBooks' four day courses, with new courses on 'Setting up the Nearly Paperless Office', and 'Guide to an e-Commerce Enabled Website' under development.
QuickBooks training with a difference
The inspiration for Alta Training came from the realisation that the few QuickBooks software training courses available in the UK were either too superficial to be of real benefit on a day to day basis, or were run by IT professionals with no bookkeeping or real-world QuickBooks experience, or worse, both. In contrast, Alta Training's courses are led by trainers who possess a thorough knowledge of QuickBooks, understand accounting, and have experience of working with small business.

About the Founder and Head of Training
The company was founded by Dr. Loredana Stroup (MBA, DPhil [Oxon]), who is Head of Training. In the last 6 years Loredana has worked with sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in a variety of sectors, including hospitality, retail, professional services, IT, printing, property management, farming, and trades. She gained her real-world experience from running Straight Books, a sister company to Alta Training specialising in QuickBooks set-ups, training, management reporting, and year-ends, as well as through her participation in a 1 year pilot programme created by Business Boffins in partnership with Barclay's Bank and SEEDA (South East England Development Agency). She was one of a team of four 'Mentors 2 Small Business', who assisted 130 start-ups on business set-up, growth and sustainability during their first 12 months of trading, and researched key management and business skills shortages among owner/managers. An active member of the QuickBooks Professional Advisor programme, her in-depth knowledge of QuickBooks and accounting was recognised by Intuit (the makers of QuickBooks) who in 2003 asked her to prepare the 'Port Meadow' sample file shipped with each software package.
